Caius Oprea, violin

Caius Oprea was born in Romania. At 15, after winning an international competition in Italy, he defected to the US. He studied at Juilliard and  Portland State University. He was concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra of South Africa, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jena Philharmonie as well as the Hanover State Opera in Germany. He has toured Africa, Europe, Asia and North America with various orchestras and has collaborated with the likes of  Perlman, Domingo, Menuhin,  Zukerman, and Bell to name but a few. Currently he is concertmaster of the Festival Choral Orchestra and enjoys performing chamber music and teaching. In his free time he enjoys sports cars and is passionate about skiing and traveling with his family.
